Alberto A. Lim
> Chairman, Corporate Network for Disaster Response
Bertie has worked in the interstices
of business, government and civil society. The assassination
of a prominent political figure in 1983 created new
tracks in his multifaceted career. Then on a fast
track as a professional business manager, he put his
business career on hold for a few years to join the
political movement that helped topple a tyrant. He
co-founded three civil society institutions that supported
political and social causes.
In 1990, he founded the Corporate
Network for Disaster Response and continues to lead
this unique corporate enterprise in Asia that mobilizes
resources for victims of disasters and prepares local
communities to mitigate the effects of natural hazards.
Bertie is currently the Executive
Director of the Makati Business Club (MBC), an association
that provides businessmen a forum for constuctive
ideas and is involved in advocacy for economic reform
and good governance. Among several initiatives it
manages, MBC provides guidance and resources to the
Coalition Against Corruption and the National Movement
for Free Elections.
